Verdict: the Morphy Richards Turbo Glide 302000 is still one of the best-value steam irons in the UK. It has 2800W, 40g/min of continuous steam, a 150g boost, a 400ml tank and a 3m cord, a ceramic soleplate with a precision tip, and auto shut-off. Expert Reviews rated it best overall for crease reduction, and it has more than 4,000 owner ratings at Amazon UK. Its weak points are modest steam figures on paper and some owners reporting it failing within a year. If you want more steam, the Russell Hobbs Powersteam Ultra 20630 is our best steam iron overall.
The Turbo Glide 302000 is Morphy Richards’ best-selling corded iron and our “best for crease removal” pick in our best steam irons guide. It is in stock at Amazon UK, sold by Amazon. This review replaces our older write-up with current specifications, what owners report now, and how it compares with the irons around it.
A note on the numbers: the Amazon listing title and Morphy Richards give 2800W, while one line of the listing’s bullet points says 2400W. The model code 302000 is the 2800W Turbo Glide.

Reviewed
Morphy Richards Turbo Glide 302000: Reviewed
- Power: 2800W
- Continuous steam: 40g/min
- Steam shot: 150g/min
- Tank: 400ml, easy-view
- Weight: 1.38kg
- Soleplate: Ceramic, precision tip
- Anti-scale: Anti-scale and self-clean
- Auto shut-off: Yes
- Extras: Variable steam, vertical steam, anti-drip, cord clip
- Power cord: 3m
Crease removal. On paper, 40g/min and a 150g boost are modest: the Russell Hobbs 20630 manages 70g/min and a 210g shot. In practice the Turbo Glide does better than its numbers suggest. Its smooth ceramic soleplate and steady steam flatten creases well, and Expert Reviews rated it best overall for crease reduction. Owners at Amazon UK regularly praise how easily it glides and how quickly creases come out, and one notes it does not need high temperatures to do so.
The tank and cord. The 400ml tank is one of the largest on any corded iron, with an easy-view window and a wide filler cap, so you refill less often. The 3m cord is the other thing owners love: it reaches the end of the board and around it, which cheaper irons with 2m cords do not.
The soleplate. The ceramic soleplate has a precision tip for collars, cuffs and between buttons. It heats up quickly, in under 30 seconds by Morphy Richards’ figure.
Scale and safety. It has anti-scale, anti-drip and a self-clean button, plus auto shut-off. Some owners report the iron “stopping” mid-session: in many cases that is the auto shut-off switching it off when it is left still, and moving the iron brings it back. See our auto shut-off guide.
Weak points. Durability is the main concern: Amazon’s summary of owner reviews notes several reports of the iron breaking within a year, against a large majority who are happy. Owners also find the temperature dial stiff and the filler cover flimsy. If you iron thick cotton or linen every day, a stronger iron or a steam generator will be faster.
- Excellent crease removal for the price
- Very large 400ml tank
- Long 3m cord
- Precision-tip ceramic soleplate
- Auto shut-off
- Modest steam figures on paper
- Some owners report failures within a year
- Stiff temperature dial
- Flimsy filler cover
Our verdict: People who want reliably crisp shirts, fewer refills and a long cord.
More steam
Russell Hobbs Powersteam Ultra 20630: More steam
- Power: 3100W
- Continuous steam: 70g/min
- Steam shot: 210g/min
- Tank: 350ml
Much more steam (70g/min, 210g shot), the same 3m cord and usually a lower price. Our best steam iron overall.
For hard water
Tefal Ultragliss Anti-Calc Plus FV6848: For hard water
- Power: 2800W
- Continuous steam: 50g/min
- Steam shot: 260g/min
- Tank: 270ml
A stronger 260g boost and a rinse-out scale collector for hard water, but a shorter 2m cord and smaller tank.
Cheaper Morphy Richards
Morphy Richards Light Glide 300401: Cheaper Morphy Richards
- Power: 2200W
- Continuous steam: 24g/min
- Steam shot: 100g/min
- Tank: 230ml
Lighter and cheaper, with far less steam. For small, occasional loads.

The Turbo Glide has the biggest tank of the four and a 3m cord. The Powersteam Ultra 20630 has much more steam and the same cord length, usually for less money; it is our best steam iron overall. The Tefal Ultragliss is the one for hard water, with a rinse-out scale collector, and has a full review. The Light Glide is lighter and cheaper but has far less steam. Getting the best from the Turbo Glide
- Let it heat fully before using steam, and use steam only at the higher settings to avoid drips.
- Use the self-clean button every few weeks, more often in hard-water areas. Steps in how to descale a steam iron.
- If it stops heating mid-session, move it: the auto shut-off may have switched it off.
- Empty the tank after each session to slow scale build-up.
