Verdict: the Morphy Richards easyCHARGE 303250 is a good cordless iron for light ironing in hard-water areas, but not for big piles. It has 2400W, 30g/min of continuous steam, a 130g shot and a 350ml tank, a ceramic soleplate with a precision tip, auto shut-off and a 360° base you can drop it onto from any direction. Expert Reviews picked it for hard-water areas, and it has more than 9,000 owner ratings at Amazon UK. Its weak point is heat retention: owners say it cools quickly and needs frequent trips back to the base. For a stronger cordless iron, the Tefal Freemove Power is our best; if you want a cable option, the Tower T22008 can be used corded.
The easyCHARGE is Morphy Richards’ best-selling cordless iron. Its circular base means you never have to line the iron up: put it down at any angle and it starts recharging, with a light to show when it is ready. It is our “best for hard water” pick in our best cordless irons guide.
It is in stock at Amazon UK, sold by Amazon. This review replaces our older write-up with current specifications and what owners report now. One figure has changed: the Amazon listing now says the iron needs under 40 seconds on the base to reheat, where older listings said under 25 seconds.

Morphy Richards easyCHARGE 303250: Reviewed
- Power: 2400W
- Continuous steam: 30g/min
- Steam shot: 130g/min
- Tank: 350ml
- Reheat: Under 40s on the base (Amazon listing)
- Base: 360° easyCHARGE, 2.5m cord
- Soleplate: Ceramic, precision tip
- Anti-scale: Anti-scale and auto-clean
- Auto shut-off: Yes
- Extras: Vertical steam, anti-drip
The 360° base. The best thing about the easyCHARGE. You can put the iron down at any angle, from either side of the board, and it starts charging. Owners say the cordless design is well thought out and stays out of the way, which matters on sleeves and around shirt yokes, where a cable drags.
Steam. 30g/min of continuous steam and a 130g shot are modest, lower than the Tefal Freemove Power (40g/min, 220g) and the Tower T22008 (40g/min, 180g). For shirts and everyday cotton that is enough; for linen and heavy cotton it is slow.
Heat retention. This is the main complaint. Owners report that it heats quickly but cools fast once off the base, so it needs docking every few strokes, and a few say a shirt takes far longer than with a corded iron. That is true of every cordless iron to a degree, but it is more noticeable here than on the Freemove. The listing’s reheat time of under 40 seconds also means more waiting than the Tefal’s 11 seconds.
Scale. Anti-scale and auto-clean help in hard-water areas, and Expert Reviews picked it for hard water. The 350ml tank is large for a cordless iron, so refills are rare.
Weak points. As well as heat retention, some owners report water leaking, usually when steaming at too low a temperature. Amazon lists 1.7kg, which may include the base; either way it is heavier than the 960g Freemove.
- 360° base: dock from any angle
- Large 350ml tank
- Anti-scale and auto-clean
- Auto shut-off
- Low price for a cordless iron
- Cools quickly off the base
- Modest 30g/min steam and 130g shot
- Reheat up to 40 seconds
- Some owners report leaks
Our verdict: Light, frequent ironing of shirts in hard-water areas.
Better cordless
Tefal Freemove Power FV6676: Better cordless
- Power: 2600W
- Continuous steam: 40g/min
- Steam shot: 220g/min
- Tank: 250ml
Lighter at 960g, more steam (40g/min, 220g boost) and an 11-second recharge. Our best cordless iron.
Corded option
Tower CeraGlide T22008: Corded option
- Power: 2400W
- Continuous steam: 40g/min
- Steam shot: 180g/min
- Tank: 360ml
Cheaper, with a 180g shot, and you can plug it in for long sessions so it never cools.
Corded instead
Russell Hobbs Powersteam Ultra 20630: Corded instead
- Power: 3100W
- Continuous steam: 70g/min
- Steam shot: 210g/min
- Tank: 350ml
If cordless is not essential: 70g/min, a 210g shot and a 3m cord, and it never cools down.

The easyCHARGE has the easiest base to use but the least steam and the slowest reheat. The Freemove Power is lighter, stronger and recharges much faster; see our Freemove review. The Tower T22008 is cheaper and can be used corded for long sessions; see our Tower review. If cordless is not essential, a corded iron like the Powersteam Ultra 20630 gives far more steam and never cools down.
Getting the best from the easyCHARGE
- Dock it often. Iron in short passes and put it back on the base every few strokes so it stays hot.
- Wait for the ready light before steaming, and use steam only at the higher settings to avoid leaks.
- Save it for shirts and light loads; use a corded iron or steam generator for bedding and linen.
- Use the auto-clean function regularly in hard-water areas; see how to descale a steam iron.
Frequently asked questions
Is the Morphy Richards easyCHARGE any good?
Yes, for light ironing. It has a 360° base you can dock from any angle, a 350ml tank, anti-scale and auto shut-off. Its steam is modest (30g/min and a 130g shot), and owners say it cools quickly off the base.
How long does the Morphy Richards easyCHARGE take to recharge?
The current Amazon UK listing says under 40 seconds on the base to reheat. Older listings gave under 25 seconds.
Why does my cordless iron go cold so quickly?
All cordless irons start cooling as soon as they leave the base. Iron in short passes and dock it every few strokes. If you iron a lot in one go, a corded iron or a corded-or-cordless model such as the Tower T22008 is better.
Does the Morphy Richards 303250 have auto shut-off?
Yes.
Is the Morphy Richards easyCHARGE good for hard water?
It has anti-scale and auto-clean functions, and Expert Reviews picked it for hard-water areas. Use the auto-clean regularly.
Morphy Richards easyCHARGE or Tefal Freemove Power?
The Freemove Power is lighter, has more steam (40g/min and a 220g boost) and recharges in about 11 seconds. The easyCHARGE has a bigger tank, a 360° base and usually costs less.
